3.5 Billion U.S.D. was raked in from Porn in 2015, as much as you may want to ignore it and maybe even deny it, Porn is a massive industry, an some say the reason why the Internet was invented, I am sure Mr. Berners Lee  has his opinion on that. But what can business people learn from porn to make our own websites better?

Of course I don’t mean adding a scantily clad buxom 18 year old lady on your website, climbing up from your footer enticing you and promising lurid details on your home page, just the basic S.E.O. skills that porn utilizes so that you can use in your wholesome business website.

Keyword research

Google Ad Words can tell you how many people are searching the key phrases that you think people are putting into Google to find your business (and your competitors).

When you first start your website a decent web designer will look through the keyword Ad Words tool with you to show you how people search for things, Google records every single one of their 40,000 searches a second and bases its entire Pay per click pricing on keyword competitiveness.

So you may sell ice cream, but maybe by asking Google how many people searched ‘Ice Cream’ in the last year, you may be told by Google that there are more searches for ‘Vanilla Ice Cream’, or ‘Chocolate Ice cream.’ The porn Industry knows and uses keyword research very precisely, and where you may think; ‘that’s an obscure and weird domain name,’ yet it’s been purchased for a reason, and porn purveyors will concentrate on the most searched terms. Peoples carnal desires are very exact, if we all had more precise business and personal goals like we have very succinct sexual fantasies, there would be a lot more successful people about.

Porn for SEO

Do your keyword research and keep those and the semantics in your mind for every page and piece of content you ever add to your website.

Be Visual

Put your most desirable images on your home page and make sure they don’t need explanation, and a visitor to your site knows instantly what your sites about.

Yes you must go into the meta-tags and tell the google robot what the image is about, as the algorithmic robots that search engines use have no sexual organs or desires whatsoever, and will not know the difference between a slim desirable 18 year old nymphomaniac on a beautiful beach, to a 80 year old hobo in dumpster by just looking at the picture, so you need to tell them, but the web surfers (real sentient humans) do know the difference. Then hopefully, because of the images meta tag information, you make sure you don’t ever develop a disturbing phobia about dumpsters.

Porn is interactive.

Most of the money in porn is giving the bait images, then getting people to pay to speak to the models via webcams, they make it so easy for their visitors to make the close encounter of the second kind to the actors themselves, bringing the extra dimension to the experience, one name and quick payment and they are hooked.

Do you make it ultra-quick and easy for your website visitors to get in touch with you? How much more revenue could you make if you could get to second base with another 1% of your website visitors by simplifying the contact process?

Categorise for navigation

Can’t tell you how important this is, Word Press for example makes it so easy for you to add distinctive categories, Word Press knows how Google loves and rewards websites it understands, Porn is forever growing deeper in categories, you think they are only 2-5 words for woman’s breasts, Porn will probably have over 200 words and semantics for them (baby feeders my personal favourite -sigh) and the deeper you go into the categories; the more satisfying it is for the visitor.

If you sell Furniture for example, having ‘chairs’ and ‘wardrobes’ as categories may get you some decent traffic, but by getting deep down and descriptive with categories, perhaps; ‘red vibrant leather seductive two seater,’ or ‘L shaped chaise Lounge for a tired family,’ you may find a lot more targeted  visitors sent to you via search engines, especially if you know by keyword research what type of furniture people are mostly searching for.

Use simple (vulgar) language.

Sure you know you are the best in your industry, and you not only know all the jargon, you invented a lot of it, that’s great, but your website visitor does not give a toss to be honest, you have to use very simple and plain language, and spell out the Benefits to them, U.S.P.’s make you feel great, but unless those U.S.P.’s benefit your audience it won’t matter a jot!

Porn does a great job of graphically explaining the simplicity of it all and the very raw basics of what is going on, sometimes when we hear the nitty -gritty or see it in plain text, it affects us in a deeper way.

Porn tells you how it all feels; they are driven off emotions and hormones. You think your site is different? Nope!

If you sell screwdrivers, you should be selling; how a good job well done makes you feel with the correct tool and the screw driven in safely to make sure your partner is feeling deeply satisfied with the shelf on the wall. Read this blog for more on how to sex up your website
